Privacy Policy
TopMovingComparisons — topmovingcomparisons.com
1. Who We Are
TopMovingComparisons (topmovingcomparisons.com, the "Site," "we," "us," or "our") is a website owned and operated by Buland Reach, LLC, a Delaware limited liability company with a registered address at 8 The Green #8406, Dover, DE 19901, United States. Buland Reach, LLC is the entity that operates the Site and that places, or directs the placement of, the calls and messages described in this Policy.
Here, concretely, is what TopMovingComparisons does: you submit information about an upcoming residential move through our multi-step form; we — TopMovingComparisons — place the initial outbound call to the phone number you provided, which may be answered and initially conducted by Maya, our AI voice agent (see Section 2.4); and, on that same call, if a moving company appears able to help, we may connect or warm-transfer you to that independent, third-party moving company in real time. We are not a moving company: we do not perform moves, employ movers, or issue moving quotes or estimates.
TopMovingComparisons is a performance marketing company. We are not a moving company, a motor carrier, or a household-goods broker: we do not arrange, sell, or provide transportation, we do not collect payment for any move, and we do not issue estimates or quotes for moving services. Moving companies pay us for marketing services — introducing them to consumers who have asked to be contacted about a move. Any move, estimate, price, or contract is solely between you and the moving company you choose. See also our Terms & Conditions, Section 8.
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect through the Site and through the calls, texts, and emails described above, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights available to you.
This Privacy Policy applies to topmovingcomparisons.com and to any communications (email, SMS, or phone, including calls conducted by Maya) we send or place in connection with a lead you submit through the Site. It does not apply to the practices of an independent moving company once your call is transferred to it and you communicate with it directly, or to third-party websites we may link to (see Section 13).
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide Directly
When you complete our multi-step move request form, we collect:
- Origin location (city/ZIP code you are moving from)
- Destination location (city/ZIP code you are moving to)
- Approximate home size or move volume
- Intended move date
- Other details about your move that you choose to share: whether the move is in-state or out of state, the type of move, whether you would like help with packing, storage, unwanted furniture, or vehicles
- First and last name
- Phone number
- Email address
If you contact us through our contact form or otherwise (for example, to exercise a privacy right or ask a question), we collect the information you choose to provide in that communication.
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
When you visit or interact with the Site, we and our service providers automatically collect:
- IP address
- Browser and device user agent (browser type, operating system, device type)
- Cookie identifiers and similar tracking technologies (see Section 5)
- Advertising and analytics identifiers associated with the advertising platform that referred you to the Site (OpenAI — ads shown in ChatGPT) and with our analytics providers
- Referral source and ad-click/campaign information (i.e., which ad or search query brought you to the Site)
- Pages viewed, general interaction and timing data on the Site
2.3 Consent and Submission Metadata
Because a submission through our form authorizes us to contact you by phone, text message, and email — including by automatic telephone dialing systems, artificial, prerecorded, or AI-generated voice, and SMS — we create and retain a record of how and when that consent was given. This consent record includes:
- The exact text of the consent disclosure presented to you, and its version
- The state of the consent checkbox at the time of submission
- Date and timestamp of submission
- IP address and user agent at the time of submission
- The page URL where consent was given
- A snapshot of the submitted form
- An independent third-party consent-verification certificate from TrustedForm (a service of ActiveProspect, Inc.) confirming the time, IP address, and content of the consent event
We keep this record because it is our evidence that you agreed to be contacted, and because contact-consent laws require businesses to be able to demonstrate that consent was properly obtained. See Section 10 for how long this record is kept.
2.4 Calls You Receive From Us, Including AI Voice Interactions
If you consent to be contacted by phone, TopMovingComparisons places an outbound call to the phone number you provided. That call may be answered and initially conducted by Maya, an AI voice agent. At the very start of every such call — before any qualifying question is asked — Maya discloses that (a) the call is being recorded, and (b) Maya is an artificial-intelligence voice, not a human. Maya then asks a small number of qualifying questions about your move and, where appropriate, transfers the call to an independent, third-party moving company (see Section 4.1).
In connection with these calls, we collect and process:
- Call audio and recordings (including the recorded, start-of-call AI and recording disclosures);
- Machine-generated transcripts of the call;
- Call metadata (call time, duration, phone number, routing and transfer path); and
- Call disposition (for example, transferred, no answer, or declined).
This data is processed using automated and AI-based tools, including to generate transcripts, to determine call routing and transfer, and for quality assurance and consent-defense purposes described in Section 3. See Section 10 for how long call recordings and transcripts are kept.
2.5 Information We Do Not Collect
We do not ask for and do not intend to collect Social Security numbers, government ID numbers, financial account numbers, precise real-time geolocation (GPS-level location), health information, or other sensitive categories of personal information through the form.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information described above to:
- Qualify your move. Use your origin, destination, home size, and move date to understand what kind of move you need help with.
- Call, text, and email you. Place the outbound call described in Section 2.4 (including calls conducted by Maya), send text messages, and send email to the phone number and email address you provide, to discuss your move.
- Warm-transfer your call. Where appropriate, connect or warm-transfer your live call, in real time, to an independent third-party moving company that may be able to help with your move, using call-routing technology (see Section 4).
- Operate and improve the AI voice system. Generate call transcripts, determine call disposition and routing, and improve the accuracy of Maya's qualifying questions.
- Verify and defend our consent record. Use the automatically collected and consent-metadata information described in Sections 2.2–2.4 to confirm you are a real person, detect fraud or automated ("bot") submissions, and demonstrate that your consent to be contacted was properly obtained.
- Operate, secure, and improve the Site. Use automatically collected data for analytics, to understand how visitors use the Site, and to measure the performance of the advertising that brought you here (including ads on the OpenAI ads platform (ads shown in ChatGPT)).
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms & Conditions.
We do not use the information you submit, or your call recordings or transcripts, to make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you.
6. "Sale," "Sharing," and Targeted Advertising — Your Opt-Out Rights
Several state privacy laws, including California's, use the terms "sale" and "sharing" more broadly than the everyday meaning of those words. Under California law, a "sale" can include disclosing personal information for money or other valuable consideration, and "sharing" separately covers disclosing personal information for cross-context behavioral or targeted advertising, regardless of whether money changes hands.
Here is what actually happens with your information, so you can evaluate it against those definitions:
- When you submit the form, TopMovingComparisons places a first-party outbound call to you, and during that live call may warm-transfer you to one independent moving company. This is a direct, first-party contact and live transfer that you requested by submitting the form (see Section 9) — it is not a disclosure to an advertising network or data broker, and it is not an out-of-band hand-off of your contact information.
- Separately, our analytics and advertising providers (Google Analytics and OpenAI) receive certain automatically collected identifiers, such as cookies and advertising IDs, to measure ad performance. We treat the information the OpenAI ads pixel receives as "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising under California law, and as targeted advertising under similar state laws, and you can opt out as described below.
The live call transfer described in Section 4.1 is a disclosure you direct us to make when you ask to be connected with a moving company, so we do not treat it as a "sale." If you would rather not be transferred, tell us on the call or send a request through our contact form.
To the extent any of the practices above constitute a "sale" or "sharing" under applicable law, you have the right to opt out.
How to opt out: use our Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page, which turns off the OpenAI ads pixel for your browser immediately and lets you send us an opt-out request; turn on the Global Privacy Control (GPC) in your browser, which we honor automatically (we do not load the OpenAI ads pixel); or contact us through our contact form. We will confirm when your request has been processed.
Opting out of sale/sharing does not opt you out of being contacted about a lead you have already submitted with consent — to stop those communications, see Section 9.
7. Your Privacy Rights, By State
Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights with respect to your personal information. We describe the common rights bundle below and note state-specific mechanics where they differ. Whether a specific law legally applies to us depends on factors such as our data volume and revenue, which are confirmed separately from this Policy; we make these rights available broadly as a matter of practice.
7.1 Common Rights
- Right to know / access — what personal information we have collected about you, and details about our processing of it.
- Right to delete — personal information we have collected from or about you, subject to legal exceptions (for example, we may need to retain your consent record as described in Section 10).
- Right to correct — inaccurate personal information we hold about you.
- Right to data portability — to receive a copy of your personal information in a portable format.
- Right to opt out of the sale of personal information, of targeted/cross-context behavioral advertising, and of profiling in furtherance of decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects. You can exercise this right on our Do Not Sell or Share page (see Section 6).
- Right to appeal a denial of any of the above requests (see Section 8).
7.2 State-Specific Notes
| State | Law | Notable mechanics |
|---|---|---|
| California | CCPA/CPRA | See detailed Section 14; includes right to limit use of sensitive personal information (not applicable to the data categories we collect, per Section 2.5); we confirm opt-out requests made through our Do Not Sell or Share page. |
| Colorado | Colorado Privacy Act | Appeal right with escalation to the Colorado Attorney General if denied. |
| Connecticut | CTDPA | Appeal right with escalation to the Connecticut Attorney General if denied. |
| Texas | TDPSA | Appeal right with escalation to the Texas Attorney General if denied. |
| Montana | MTCDPA | Appeal right with escalation to the Montana Attorney General if denied. |
| Oregon | OCPA | Appeal right with escalation to the Oregon Attorney General if denied; grants residents a right to a list of the specific named third parties their own data was disclosed to (not just categories); we will provide that list on request through our contact form. |
| Delaware | DPDPA | Appeal right; grants residents a right to a list only of categories of third parties (not named entities). |
| Nebraska | NDPA | Appeal right with escalation to the Nebraska Attorney General if denied. |
| New Hampshire | NHDPA | Appeal right with escalation to the New Hampshire Attorney General if denied. |
| New Jersey | NJDPA | Appeal right with escalation to the New Jersey Attorney General if denied. |
| Minnesota | MCDPA | Appeal right; grants residents a right to a list of the specific named third parties their own data was disclosed to, on the same basis as Oregon above. |
| Maryland | MODPA | Appeal right with escalation to the Maryland Attorney General if denied. |
| Virginia | VCDPA | Appeal right with escalation to the Virginia Attorney General if denied. |
| Utah | UCPA | No statutory appeal right — a denied request may instead be raised with the Utah Division of Consumer Protection. Right to correct was added by Utah HB 418, effective July 1, 2026; before that date Utah law granted no correction right. |
| Other states | Florida, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Rhode Island, Tennessee | We extend the same common rights bundle described in Section 7.1 to residents of these states as a matter of practice. Note: Iowa's ICDPA does not include a right to correct, but does provide an internal appeal process (60-day response, with referral to the Iowa Attorney General on denial). |
This table reflects the general framework of comprehensive state privacy laws in effect as of September 2026 and is not a substitute for legal advice on which law applies to a specific request, or on whether our data volume or activities trigger a given state's applicability threshold. Contact us if you are unsure which rights apply to you.
8. How to Submit, Verify, and Appeal a Rights Request
8.1 Submitting a Request
To exercise any right described in Section 7 or Section 14, contact us through our contact form (choose "Privacy request"), or use the request form on our Do Not Sell or Share page. Please describe the right you wish to exercise and provide enough information for us to locate your record (for example, the phone number or email address you submitted).
8.2 Verifying Your Identity
To protect your information from unauthorized access, we will verify your identity before completing a request, generally by confirming that you can be reached at the phone number or email address associated with the record, or by requesting additional matching information if needed. We will not require you to create an account to submit a request.
8.3 Our Response
We will confirm receipt of your request within 10 business days and respond within 45 calendar days. If we need more time (up to 45 more days), we will tell you why within the first 45 days. We act on requests to opt out of sale or sharing within 15 business days. If we deny a request in whole or in part, we will explain why.
8.4 Appeal
If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our denial or contacting us through our contact form within a reasonable time. We will respond to your appeal within the time required by applicable law. If we uphold the denial, we will tell you how to submit a complaint to your state Attorney General or other applicable regulator, where that escalation right applies in your state (see Section 7.2).
8.5 Authorized Agents
Where permitted by law, you may designate an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf. We may require proof of the agent's authorization and separately verify your identity.
8.6 Non-Discrimination
We will not deny you goods or services, charge you a different price, or provide a different level of service because you exercised a privacy right.
9. Communications Consent (TCPA) — Opt-Out and Revocation
By checking the consent box on our form and submitting it, you are asking TopMovingComparisons to contact you about your move. You agree that TopMovingComparisons (Buland Reach, LLC) and our moving partner, Interstate Moving & Relocation Group, Inc. (including on a call transferred to it as described in Section 4.1, and afterward about your move), may contact you by calls and texts to the phone number you provided, including:
- Live agent phone calls;
- Calls using an automatic telephone dialing system, an artificial or prerecorded voice, or an AI-generated voice — including calls initially conducted by Maya, our AI voice agent (see Section 2.4);
- Text messages (SMS/MMS), including automated text messages.
We may also email you at the address you provided, and every email includes an unsubscribe link.
Every call we place using Maya begins with a disclosure, before any qualifying question is asked, that the call is being recorded and that Maya is an artificial-intelligence voice, not a human. Because these calls use an artificial or AI-generated voice, they are "artificial voice" calls under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, as clarified by the FCC's February 2024 declaratory ruling on AI-generated voices used in calls (FCC 24-17, released Feb. 8, 2024). The consent described in this Section is prior express written consent authorizing calls and text messages placed using an automatic telephone dialing system, an artificial or prerecorded voice, or an AI-generated voice, consistent with that ruling.
Consent to receive these communications is not a condition of purchasing any property, goods, or services from TopMovingComparisons or from any moving company. Standard message and data rates may apply to text messages. See our Terms & Conditions, SMS Program Terms for message-frequency and carrier disclosures.
9.1 How to Opt Out or Revoke Consent
You may revoke your consent to be contacted at any time, through any reasonable means that clearly communicates your wish to stop, including:
- Replying STOP, QUIT, END, REVOKE, OPT-OUT, CANCEL, or UNSUBSCRIBE to any text message we send;
- Telling a live agent, or Maya, that you want to stop receiving calls;
- Using the unsubscribe link in any email we send;
- Contacting us through our contact form.
We will honor a revocation request within the time required by law (currently no more than 10 business days) and will not require you to use a specific proprietary method to revoke consent.
A revocation request directed to a specific message or call will be treated, at minimum, as revoking your consent for that category of contact. If you want to stop all contact from TopMovingComparisons — across phone, text, and email — please say so explicitly (for example, by replying "STOP ALL" to a text message or telling us directly), or contact us through our contact form. As of this Policy's last update, the FCC's rule requiring a "revoke all" request to apply across every channel and purpose is subject to a limited compliance waiver extended through January 31, 2027; until that date, we honor a clearly expressed "stop all" request as a matter of practice rather than as a strict legal floor, and we will still confirm the scope of your request with you where it is ambiguous.
9.2 Reply HELP
Reply HELP to any text message for assistance, or contact us through our contact form.
9.3 Internal Do-Not-Call Policy
TopMovingComparisons is the party that places the outbound calls described in this Section. As required by 47 C.F.R. § 64.1200(d) for calls of this kind, we maintain a written internal do-not-call policy governing the calls we place, including procedures for training personnel and our AI voice agent (Maya) on do-not-call requirements, recording and honoring do-not-call requests, and maintaining an internal do-not-call list. A copy of this policy is available to you on request — contact us through our contact form. This subsection addresses only the calls TopMovingComparisons itself places; it does not extend to any calls a moving company may place to you directly after a transfer, which are governed by that company's own policies.
10. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. In particular:
| Record | Retention criteria |
|---|---|
| Lead/contact record (name, phone, email, move details) | Retained for as long as needed to complete the call, warm-transfer, and related customer-service process described in this Policy, and to support fraud-prevention and legal-compliance purposes, currently no more than 4 years after our last contact with you. The copy of your form entries kept with the TCPA consent record (below) follows that record's schedule. |
| Call recordings and transcripts (outbound calls placed by TopMovingComparisons, including calls conducted by Maya) | Retained to preserve an auditable record of the call — including the start-of-call recording and AI-voice disclosures required by law — to support quality assurance, and to defend against a claim relating to the call, currently 24 months from the date of the call. |
| TCPA consent record (disclosure text and version, checkbox state, timestamp, IP, user agent, page URL, form snapshot) | Retained for the period required to defend against a claim relating to your consent, currently 5 years after our last contact with you under that consent, after which it is deleted. |
| Third-party consent-verification certificate | Claimed and retained in accordance with the selected verification vendor's terms: claimed when your request is processed for a call and then retained for approximately 5 years (a certificate that is never claimed expires within a few days), consistent with ActiveProspect's then-current terms. |
| Contact-form messages that are not rights requests | Retained for 24 months after we respond, then deleted. |
| Analytics, session-replay, and advertising data (Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity, LogRocket, OpenAI ads pixel) | Kept by those providers under their settings: Google Analytics 14 months; Clarity about 13 months for aggregate data and 30 days for recordings; LogRocket about 30 days; OpenAI under its advertising terms. |
| Rights-request records (proof of request, response, and any appeal) | Retained to demonstrate compliance with our obligation to respond to, and allow appeal of, a rights request, currently 24 months after the request is closed. |
When information is no longer needed for these purposes, we delete it or render it non-identifiable, consistent with applicable law.
11. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect the personal information we collect — including call recordings and transcripts — from loss, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. No method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you and take other steps as required by applicable law.
12. Children's Privacy
The Site is intended for use by individuals who are at least 18 years old and are legal U.S. residents. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have collected personal information from someone under 18, we will take steps to delete it. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, contact us through our contact form.
13. Third-Party Links
The Site, and communications sent or placed by TopMovingComparisons, may contain links to third-party websites or refer you to an independent moving company. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those third parties. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any third-party site, and of any moving company you are transferred to, before providing personal information to it directly.
14. California-Specific Disclosures
This Section supplements the rest of this Policy for California residents and is provided consistent with the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA).

14.5 Your California Rights

14.6 Shine the Light
California residents may separately request information about disclosures of personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing purposes during the preceding calendar year. To make such a request, contact us through our contact form.
15. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where required by law, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Site after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
